Because of rising utility and operating costs, Hawaii Transfer Company partnered with Energy Industries to find an energy-efficiency solution.
Established in 1931, Hawaii Transfer Company is one of the oldest and largest trucking and warehousing companies in the state of Hawaii. Located in Waipahu, Hawaii Transfer Company’s 130,000 square foot warehouse features 140 types of cartage equipment and over 100 trucks.
In 2006, Energy Industries provided Hawaii Transfer Company a with lighting retrofit for 156 high intensity discharge (HID) fixtures. By replacing 250-watt metal halides with high output T5 lamps, Energy Industries achieved a 56% energy consumption reduction for the lighting system. Hawaii Transfer Company was able to enjoy an $8,148 rebate upon installation and $20,000 in electricity bill savings every year.
