ENERGY EFFICIENCY ENGINEER

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High Energy
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in Mechanical HVAC Contracting or Consulting
  • Must be willing to hunt for answers and provide solutions to problems
  • Must be willing to travel to where the work is and complete both office and field work
  • Must have the passion for Energy Conservation, to reduce operating cost for our clients, save Hawaii and save the Earth

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Energy Efficiency Engineer will conduct technical studies to evaluate and assess energy conservation measures for commercial and industrial properties. This position will research and evaluate building systems, develop design solutions, implementation estimates and proposals for energy conservation and generation projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop knowledge of energy industry equipment, processes, systems and complimentary sub consultants and companies
  • Develop relationships with Utility Account Representatives and DSM personnel
  • Develop Energy Services projects.
  • Develop relationships with local mechanical and electrical consultants, contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell Energy Industries
  • Educate Customer Base in energy solutions
  • Know the whole Team process
  • Take over the process from Study contract signing to Presentation of Study to Customer
  • Work with EPD in the Development of the Energy Study Proposal
  • Work with the PM to complete the Turn-Over to the Implementation Phase
  • If a Study is not available, work with the Team to develop Energy Project designs and projected energy savings
  • Post implementation Commissioning and Monitoring and Verification
  • Study Responsibilities
    • Conduct initial site visits and create Study proposals
    • Develop ECM list for Energy Studies
    • Develop logging plan and install loggers
    • Download loggers as required and removal
    • Complete energy calculations
    • Collect required facility utility, drawing and interview information
    • Create Installation contract for Energy Study
    • Collect equipment and subcontractor quotations & catalog information for the Study and installation contract
    • Identify Utility DSM incentive estimates
    • Write and present Energy Studies to Customer with Energy Project Developer
  • Create and submit Monthly Progress Invoices to Accounts Receivable
  • Meet with Project Manager and Field Supervisor to transfer contracted project information for Construction Phase.
  • Provide preconstruction information:
    • Complete scope of work
    • Equipment Submittals
    • Identify customer project contacts
    • Project deadlines
    • Subcontractor or Sub-consultant agreements
    • Permit and/or Construction Drawings
    • Project Budget
  • Support new branch offices.
  • Work with Energy Project Developer to provide quotations services.
  • Provide onsite customer support when necessary
  • Create and host training programs for divisional personnel and customers
  • Support for general accounts receivable staff
  • Learn and review energy industry new and innovative technologies and installation methods to improve company knowledge base.
  • Identify educational sessions and seminars to enhance the knowledge of all Energy Industries personnel.

PERFORMANCE CONTRACTING SPECIALIST - Honolulu

Performance Contracting Specialist is a key role in the sales team for Performance Contracting. The PCS serves as a technical expert during the performance contracting sales process, providing guidance to the proposal development team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and developing energy conservation measure's scope of work
  • Calculate energy conservation measure's cost avoidance
  • Determining energy baselines
  • Developing measurement and verification methodologies
  • Calculating operations and ancillary savings with the Sales Executive
  • Develop project costs, cost avoidance, and associated financial cash flows
  • Generate project financial reports all in a timely manner to support you teams project timeline.
  • Commercial and industrial energy engineering
  • Utility cost analysis
  • Facilities management
  • Life cycle cost analysis
  • Project development and conservation program implementation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 10 or more years related HVAC and control systems experience
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer a plus
  • Member of Energy Association, accreditation in association a plus.
  • 10 plus years of progressive technical operation management (OM) experience
  • In-depth experience practiced in both energy and environmental engineering
  • Strong Focus on technical team development, resource management, business unit effectiveness and efficient business operations
  • Proficiency in Central Plant applications, distributed generation, cogeneration/combined heat and power (CHP) applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to write project descriptions in laymen terms
  • Ability to assess and manage risk opportunities
  • Hands on Metering experience
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Familiarity with IPMVP

LIGHTING RETROFIT TECHNICIANS - Hawaii

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair of interior and exterior fluorescent, incandescent, and high intensity discharge building light fixtures
  • Replace fuses, ballasts and lamp sockets
  • Retrofit fixtures including converting/modifying existing fixtures to be more energy efficient by replacing ballasts, lamps and optics or installing a variety of manufactured UL Listed retrofit kits
  • Operate motor vehicles and equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and personnel lifts
  • Operate power tools and equipment such as drill motors and power screwdrivers
  • Operate electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, multi-meters, and light meters
  • Set up workstations from a variety of elevated positions using ladders, personnel lifts, and scaffolding
  • Clean and maintain shop areas, work site, and storage areas
  • Load and unload supplies and materials
  • Perform related duties as required
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must have current driver's license

Job Responsibilities:

  • Travelling to project sites as needed including neighbor islands
  • Individually conducting on-site audits
  • Conducting measurement and verification
  • Collecting vital data and customer information
  • Providing basic support services for Senior Engineers, Operations and Management
  • Scheduling work with customers
  • Coordinating with Operations Manager and crew
  • Coordinating with vendors and suppliers
  • Providing hands on support when needed
  • Providing information to Sales as requested
  • Developing project budgets
  • Providing scope of work write ups
  • Visiting with engineers and on-site contractors for quoting and project walkthroughs
  • Meeting with inspectors for approvals
  • Staff supervision and safety (including ensuring that all safety requirements are met)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years mechanical or electrical construction experience
  • Prior supervisory skills
  • Possess at least a 4 year college degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in addition to time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - Honolulu

The qualified candidate will have at minimum five years experience in HVAC / Refrigeration design and/or construction, and have good analytical, supervisory, and communication skills. Knowledge of energy conservation principles is desirable. We will train.

The position will report to the Executive Vice President / Chief Technology Officer. Travel to project sites and the company's Northwest operations may be necessary. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

The qualified candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in all MS Office applications is required. Minimum 2+ years as a Sales & Marketing Administrator is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical studies to evaluate and assess energy conservation measures for commercial and industrial properties.
